Lulled to 17-20 for just long enough to launch a few boats... Then kicked back up to 25-30... No racing today... Crawfish is now cookin' & keg is getting tapped :-)

I got a ride on one of the 3 VXs that went out to have some fun.  Very steep 3-4 footers made going up-wind pretty brutal.  Full fire-hose reach was a blast!  Was about to put up kite when the rudder broke (same thing happened to one of the other boats, too).
Rescue boats would have had their hands REALLY full if we had raced today... good call RC!

Luckily it wasn't a broken rudder, just a bent rudder bracket. Thanks to our on call 24 hour machinist, we were able to get the bracket welded up, and remounted on the boat around 11 tonight. She will be out sailing in the morning with her new diomond plate rudder cartridge.

And the boats off the wind.... well our 26' fishing boat could barely keep up in the waves. We clocked the VX at 20kn with the main and jib before she had to call it.

The monkey was, mechanical bulk accident.

Don't ask

Ok, ask

Jim Sears

With Jeff out, he brought in a stunt-double from Milwaukee (Tom Peterson)... Sailed all day against him, thinking he was Jeff!
