I am the Co-Chair for Long Beach Race Week in Long Beach, California.  We're to the point of inquiring as to what one design classes are committing to LBRW, and, last year, only two Vipers showed up.  Are enough boats coming this year to make a class?  Or are y'all just sailing PHRF again this year?  We're going to need to know fairly soon.

Thanks.

Oh, yeah, and middle guy on Happy Ending, and proud of it.

Rumor has it that the trophies are way cooler for one designs.

Hi Glenn,

If we take the same 6 boats from SD Nood , add Drew's and may be one more from
AZ , we can have a one design start. I am definitively in.

#71 is staying on the east coast after CRW. (FYI)  So that will be one less that we had at NOODS if you are tallying boats up!

Are we getting six there?

Who's coming from AZ?
Any David, Mark...are you guys going?

Come on guys....we REALLY need six boats at this event.

If the Viper class can't drum up six boats for a regatta with the West Coast status of Long Beach Race Week, then I think the Vipes should be relegated to PHRF hell for an eternity!  Between S.F., Az, and the Los Angeles area, surely, six boats should be able to be scraped up!  I think if the Vipers race one-design, it'll be huge for promoting the class.  But, if they can't establish, my fear is that people will look at the Vipes as cool boats, but with zero traction on the west coast in terms of establishing at future regattas, and will probably walk away from buying one for just that reason.

The Viper REALLY needs to establish for Long Beach Race Week.

What's it take to get the boat in racing condition? Anything I can help with?

I agree 100% with finn...we REALLY need this to happen. Otherwise we're likely to stall West Coast development of the class until 2010.

Rumor has it that the boat is mostly ready.  I hear it has "bottom paint" and this is a problem I will try to deal with.  I will know more when finnster and I run up to grab the boat on Sat.
If it is ready to rock, we should have no problem finding folks to sail it around the course.
I'll keep you up to date.

How about a quick roll call on this LBRW thing.
