We are putting on a very special regatta.
The event coincides with the 90th anniversary of our club. Last year we tore down the original clubhouse and built an all new clubhouse designed around hosting regattas. We are really excited to be hosting our first Viper regatta in our new clubhouse.

Our small but energetic Viper fleet wants to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU and WELCOME to all of you Viper sailors that have hosted us at your regattas.

To that end, you will notice an unusual feature in the NOR.  The entry fee is a whopping $50. However the four Norton Viper owners (Bob McHugh, Justin Scott Warren Costikyan and Joe Healey) are sponsoring drink tickets for our guests.  For our local visitors, we are handing out $30 of drink tickets (this goes a long way because our beers are $5 and cocktails $10). For Vipers which have traveled from further afield and will be arriving even more parched, we are going to say "Thank You" by handing out $60 of drink tickets.

This is our way of saying thank you for the good times and "This round is on us!"

To all Great Lakes, North East, Mid Atlantic .....in fact to all and any Vipers, you are all welcome and we hope you will sign up. Heck, even the Canadians are welcome....let us repay you for your hospitality in Kingston!

Old Club House being demolished .....it never really bounced back from Sandy and Irene.

New Club house finished in 2018! 90 years after the first one was built.

Ouch!.....em I mean "Oh Good!"

How often do you get chance to put 12 beers on my tab?  That alone should get everyone rushing to sign up.

As Justin has been a dear friend for nearly 30 years, I can confidently say, "The moths which live in his wallet are quaking in fear of their first exposure to sunlight."
Race it like you stole it.

So sign up then!!!!  :)

On a more serious note.......a huge thanks to the first twelve boats that signed up within 24 hours of registration opening. It really helps credibility for our fleet at the club to show how enthusiastic Viper sailors are.

Now, who is going to get us to the first twenty.....paging 914-834-****

Wow......really impressed by Team Canada.  Looks like they will be at least 5 boats.

I promised Steve if they reached 5 boats then they get a part of the dry sailing area closest to the hoists carved out as the Canadian Compound. So expect to see the Canadian flag flying at NYC and Bob, Warren , Joe and my bar tab going ever higher (and we couldnt be more thrilled) .

Double Tree is offering a special discounted room rate of $89 per night for all registered competitors. This compares to the online room rate of $119.
Round of applause and thanks to Debbie Pimentel for arranging for DoubleTree to support the regatta in this way. It is a nice hotel and only 10 minutes from the club.

We currently have 22 registrants with 4 weeks to go. We are cautiously optimistic of going over 25 boats.
If you are on the fence, please feel free to ask me , Joe, Warren or Bob any questions

And if some of the Hampton fleet want to come and promote their November regatta, Im sure that we can start working on places to keep Northern boats for the balance of October so that this can be a feeder regatta for the Southern Migration

James Colburn registered yesterday
Brad called me and said Jackpot is coming, so you have earned your well deserved slots near the hoist. Bring your Canadian flag!

This brings us to 23 registered boats and Brad and Lee will be signing up shortly. We are very excited and look forward to seeing everyone.
