I can't find an "entrants list" on the Fresno Yacht Club High Sierra Regatta website. Who will be there?
http://www.fresnoyachtclub.org/hsrdetails.htm
Dates: July 18 and 19.
So Far I know that Laurent is going and we're bringin up 104. Dave Morse has offered up a boat or two to Garett and Mahalynn so they may be breaking up our crew and going for some good ole grudge match racing :-)
Hopefully Mark is coming up again this year. I don't think Greg is making the drive and Tony's boat is in the NE.
There's a Bennett boat up in Clear Lake California that I'm still trying to track down. Anyone know this boat?
I'd like to extend some invites to them.

i think a certain deputy ran it over
Yup... Mark and crew are making the trip.. see you cats and kittens up there..
Bill Chase, the new owner of Viper #53 up in Lake County, CA will be showing up. We now have 4 Vipers. 1 more and we have our first OD start at the High Sierra.
I know David Morse has kindly agreed to chartering out his boats (VERY affordably) for use at the High Sierra. He's in Florida driving tugs so he can't make it.
Anyone? Kevin? Tinman?
Last week it looked like Jeff Young & I were going to bring #33 up, but life got in the way. :(
I WILL BE THERE NEXT YEAR ;)
"Tin Man"
Dr. Walton, my forward guy for Race Week, said he might be interested in going up with a couple MBYC juniors. I'll try to get in touch with him this evening.
Dave,
I'm glad one of your boats is probably going. I wish it could have been Tim and I, but not this year, at least for me. Best wishes to all the Viperer who are going. You will have a great time.
You're a nice guy J. You really need to buy one of these things.

So sorry you can't make it Jacare. Would have been Epic to have all of us finishing within a few feet of each other again. Next year....plan on it. It'll certainly be a stop in the West Coast Series.
We'll tip a dark&stormy for ya !!
What an awsome venue. I sailed there in '01, '02 on a Santana 20. Charles Whitcher has an excellent local knowledge write-up on the event's home page this year. Definately spot on in his description of the wind conditions, and the tactics which deal with that.
Best regards to you all. ( maybe next year) .
It looks like El Capitan out of AZ carried the day....
Good job Laurent !
What a great time that was. Not much better than sailing in shorts and t-shirts in 12 knots of breeze and 85?.
Laurent and crew DID carry the day. He had it sewn up the first day with two bullets.
Great job to Luc, tactician extrodinaire !!!
They gave us our own OD start and I thanked the RC for doing this and PROMISED we'd have at least 6-8 boats there next year. You should have seen the smile he gave me at that one.
There was a ton of buzz about the Vipers at the High Sierra. We spoke to a dozen people about the boat and had a brochure rack hanging from our trailer. Gave out over 30 brochures. Friday and Saturday evening we witnessed a steady stream of onlookers checking out the Vipers.
Here's Laurent sewing up the regatta in race two.
i could not resist to post Nick's video of the first race start on saturday..thanks Nick great video.

Curious - how did the 640 stack up with the U20 speed-wise? Looked like the two vipers ran off and left the 20's.

you just answered your own question.
Well you guys looked great off the line and what a beautiful place to sail.
We were out last Weds after a photo shoot at Richmond Yacht. We beat two Melges 24's, boat for boat.
The U20 isn't even close...in pointing, upwind or downwind speed.
That regatta looks cool.
I've both boats considerably. Always knew the Viper was faster.
In mid-range breeze, the Viper points higher and sails upwind faster. I'd love to see polars on this boat. Do they exist? Anyone know?
In big breeze the U20 comes into it's own. The Viper is still faster, the margin shrinks a bit.
In light air the Viper is untouchable.
U20 is rated 144 in the Bay Area....Viper is 96. They kick our ass on that one.
