Newport Regatta registration is open.  July 12-13 in Newport, Rhode Island.  There will be Bacardi, EFG and Vipers.  That combination has worked well historically.  Organizers have yet to publicize the fact that registration is now open -- if you know you will be there, sign up today: http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=1087

Will it be a saturday/sunday series like last year?  With Friday separate?

Peter Beardsley

Newport Regatta is just Saturday-Sunday for the Vipers this year.  Turnout was much better as a 2-day event, and there's no championship attached to Newport Regatta this year -- in 2013 it was ACCs, and in 2012 it was New England Champs.  In both years, turnout for the 2-day portion was significantly better.

The only 3-day regatta in the northeast in 2014 is Marblehead NOOD, which is also the 2014 Viper New England Championship.

Who all is coming?  Newport typically has some great sea breezes, and amazing racing with Andersen as PRO.  Let's get at least eight so we have our own start!!!

We'll have more than 8 -- we just need people to sign up who plan to come.  I know of at least 4 boats who plan to attend who haven't signed up yet.  When stuff like that happens, it slows down registrations for everyone else.  The boats will be there.  If you're planning to come, plan to sail.

If anyone is on the fence, and needs crew, I'm available.

Looking forward to this weekend everyone!

If anyone is looking for crew, I have a friend who is a very experienced laser sailor with a good amount of Viper experience who is coming down to Newport with us.  Let me know!

Barry Canton

I have just been cleared to sail this weekend but my boat already has 4 people on board. Sounds like this Viper fleet needs more hulls!

Dan Tucker

Bumped from your own boat Barry? That's tough!

Sounds like someone needs to buy a new boat.  (Barmer! cough, cough..)

Congratulations on the arrival of your child!

Any spare boats around?  I see a pretty good team of 3 here..
