Good news - We're still holding strong at 16 Vipers and I know a few are still weighing their options.

Dry Storage - NOYC's dry storage will be opened completely up to the GYA Capdevielle Flying Scots and the Viper 640's exclusively. Once all are accommodated, other classes will be allowed in to the remaining spots.

Pre-Registration ends Feb. 10th - in order to receive your pre-registration $10 discount not only should you be registered on the website, but your registration fee MUST be received by this date. Please contact our club manager, Buzzy, to make payment (cc or check). buzzy [at] noyc [dot] org.

Wind: Here's a link to the historical wind patterns @ West End: http://www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_west_end_park_marina_pontchartrain.htm

I have narrowed the two French Quarter Viper HQ bars down to two - more on that later.

We're only 5 weeks away!

Big thanks Troy!!!!  Questions, since i've never been to NOYC.

Assume there is a crane we can use to launch our vipers?  Last year at another venue i was greeted with a 100.00 charge for crane-launching my boat.  Assume that's not the case down here, right?

What is the overnight situation for keeping boat's in the water?  Some teams may opt to pull their boat's out every evening but many will just want to grab a t-head or slip somewhere.

Lot's of excitement building to this event.  Not only are some sailors who cant find a viper ride bringing other things (two groups of friends are dragging down a J22 and J24) but it appears the gulf coast melges 24 fleet is going to follow us down to NO.   I was copied on an email and it appears that the event was just put on their Gulf Coast circuit list.

Anyone on the fence about bringing their boat down, consider that we can fill you crew ten-times over with good sailors who want a viper ride in the big easy.

NOYC has two 2 ton hoists and these are free to use and will be manned by NOYC volunteers to assist. SYC also has a couple of hoists and have graciously opened up their usage for MGRW as well as for some boat storage. I will have more info on this and assignments as we get a bit nearer to the race.

We really aren't about nickel and dimeing our participants - our goal is to create a world class event and for our membership and guests to enjoy the racing and the party. (FYI - NOYC's bar serves beer for $2.50 a bottle, craft drafts for $3.00 and calls are heavy and $4.00).

Ideally we would prefer to keep as many boats in the water throughout the event as to eliminate massive bottlenecks before and after the racing. We plan on designating a large area right off of the club for a Viper raft up. As I stated earlier in this post, NOYC's Dry Storage will be first assigned to GYA Capdevielle and then the Viper fleet.

Fantastic news about the M24's - I had just started hearing some whispers about that.
