I've been waiting for this thread.  The Vicious Pandas will be there, now with new team gear in tow (but still waiting to order/unveil the secret weapon spinnaker, in case anyone was wondering whether anything was more recognizable than a neon yellow kite on the run -- there will be).

Up to 9 entries: http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registrant_list.php?regatta_id=3978&custom_report_id=42

After chatting with folks in Newport last weekend, I think this might even be bigger than I expected. LOTS of interest and verbal commitments.

Don't forget, 2012 NA's will be in Marblehead, come and get your bearings!
Race it like you stole it.

Now up to 10 entries.  FleetTracker sez:

Marblehead: 5 out of 10 (still missing some of the usual suspects, like Zimmerman Scott, Bleck, among others)

Newport: 1 out of 10 (great place for redemption post Newport Regatta or just race those new boats for the first time once they are assembled)

NY/NJ: 3 out of 7 (another one very likely to sign up soon, but that may be it due to vacations and other regatta conflicts)

Western CT: 1 out of 12 (may give them all a pass if they show up for Larchmont Race Week the weekend before, though I'm betting the M'headers may not be as forgiving after all their roadtripping)

Eastern CT: 0 out of 4

Grendel is in as soon as I can figure out how to register without being a member of US Sailing.  I've emailed Sailing World.

Darren Gilbert

Matt, I'm interested to hear if you have any success for this one.

I sent Matt a PM on this last night.  It appears to be possible on the registration form -- it doesn't say that you need to be a US Sailing member -- just a member of your national sailing authority (CYA is OK).  So you just need to enter a 6-digit membership number (and if it isn't 6 digits, just enter a 6-digit number).  If a Javascript box pops up yelling at you, click ok and use your mouse to go to the next field and you'll be alright.

Thanks Peter.  I heard from Sailing World--turns out that if you list Canada as your country in the address box on the registration page, it overrides the US Sailing membership requirement.  Just signed up--easy as pie.

Now up to 19 entries.  FYI, if anyone needs crew, I know of someone who is newly local and looking for a ride.  Big guy (250 lbs) but very experienced keelboat crew who has also done some dinghy and Star sailing.

Anyone else coming?  Stuck on 19 entries.  Any itinerary for Viper social events?  Early forecast predictions?

Today:-

Trending or possibly shifting quickly right to the ESE and beginning to fill up to 06-11 during the midday. A more gradual right trend to the SE and peaking at 08-13 kts during the middle to late afternoon. Easing gradually towards evening.

Plentiful sunshine throughout the day. However, look for the sun to mix with scattered fair weather cumulus clouds that likely pop up during the afternoon, mainly onshore, and you could also see some very thin high clouds late in the day. Warming to the low 80s F onshore but likely topping out in the upper 70s F on the water.

A delightful practice day.

Sadly I have to drive to a bloody meeting in Hertford and back in a day.

Anyone know a spectator boat going out on Saturday? A friend is looking to watch.
