Obviously 2020 has not been a particularly good year on the Viper one design sailing end, but we can still end on a high note.  American YC is hosting the High Performance Regatta fka HPDO Oct. 10-11.  Originally the plan was going to be for this to be a sail-in regatta since AYC is not allowing visiting teams to launch from AYC.  HOWEVER...Larchmont YC's flag officers have generously agreed to allow up to 10 non-LYC Vipers to launch from LYC that weekend to sail from LYC to the racecourse nearby at AYC (2 miles or so at most) - so long as those teams:

1. Check in with me first to see where we are vs. the 10-boat cap (very strict cap - get your plans together ASAP)

2. Agree to abide by LYC's COVID19 policies (masks at all times in drysail area, no indoor use of facilities, physically distance as much as possible on land, wipe down hoses and hoists after use if Marine Facilities isn't operating, and follow all instructions given to you by LYC Marine Facilities staff on the enforcement end)

3. Register for the regatta ASAP to lock in your spot: https://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=13185

Team Great Scott! has signed up.  If we get all of the LYC Vipers who are available to sail in 2020, plus the YASA Viper, along with the 10 visiting teams, we could have 20 Vipers on the line and have the largest post COVID Viper regatta of the season, in the waters that are only 10 miles from the site of the 2021 World Championship at around the same time of year as the 2021 Worlds....this is your chance to practice.

Hope to see everyone in Western Long Island Sound in a few weeks.  https://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=13185

9 Vipers signed up in the first 24 hours, and 4 of the 10 guest slots for launching have been taken at LYC.  9 Vipers in 24 hours during COVID19 is like 25 Vipers in 24 hours during "the before time," so not bad.  Even though the Canadians are still barred from crossing the border and cannot attend this one, I think odds are good we will end up with 15+ Vipers on the starting line.  Please reach out ASAP to reserve a guest slot at LYC for launching.

Also, for those not in the know, NY has VERY low rates of COVID19 right now, and has had low rates for the past few months.  I'm not saying you won't get COVID19 if you do this regatta, I'm just saying that I'd be extremely surprised if you did.  Or you can stay home and sit inside for a very long winter when you might not be skiing either and lament not giving it a whirl for the last east coast fling of the season.
