Fall Fling, Hampton Yacht Club. Nov. 16/17. There will be a racing clinic on Friday the 15th. NOR posted on the HYC web site. Great sailing.
I am planning on doing this regatta as of now. Looks like a great regatta. Very low costing enterance fee! Who else is coming?
Tyler Moore has a boat in Hampton, Dave Furna will probably come and there is another Viper also now in NC that I hope will come. Dan Came last year and I think he is coming this year. And me...
This regatta could easily turn into a 10 boat fleet. Its close enough to have NY guys come if they want and there is nothing going on regatta wise in NOV.
Tyler can arrange FREE INDOOR storage after this regatta, if you'd like to leave your boat for further southeast winter sailing...
We're also planning on a small regatta in NC to support the nascent fleet emerging there, and probably something in Sarasota to support our new fleet there are well.
We'd love to have a few boats travel to join in the effort to redevelop the SE Viper fleets! I'll be putting some more info together in the next week or two.

Working on being there guys.
Mike, you know I'll try to get there with at least one boat.
Dave
That is awesome Dave! I am sure it will be a great time.
One of my crew is the race organizer and says that he is getting calls from Vipers that are talking about coming to the event. I think we are looking good. We have people that are riding the fence about buying a Viper in this area and we need this to be a great showing to help draw them in.
It would be helpful if there was a running scratch sheet here if you guys want to boost attendance. Mike -- this one may be on you if you're up for it.
We are planning on being there.
Great, looking forward to having everyone here. I will start a sheet as I get confirmation. That is a good idea.
I'll be there with Granny's Hoe. #108 out of New Bern, NC.
Is Dave coming?? Also if you know of someone that is interested in sailing a Viper, we are having a clinic conducted by Tyler Moore where they can drive a Viper and will try and work them into crews for the regatta. Tyler is helping me a lot up here and I think all will benefit from his instruction.
Dave will be there. The easiest way to find him is to follow the trail of empty beer cans to a blue viper.
Attached is the Viper Scratch sheet for the Fall Fling at Hampton Yacht Club. We have enough for a start but would love more.

Nice! The south will rise again. I'm looking forward to it.

Tyler Moore is conducting a race clinic on Friday and we have invited some interested folks to come out and sail with us. Most have an interest in sailing so this is a crew list for boats who may want to come but do not have crew available.
I confess that I start to find this regatta appealing.
Sailing at the mouth of the Chesapeake
Side trip to the Outer Banks (if you've never been, it ought to be on your bucket list)
Oyster Bake!
Clinic by Tyler
Only a 7 hour drive from Long island Sound.
Typically nice breeze at this time of year.
$35 entry fee!
Last of the temperate weather sailing before winter arrives. Catch a little Indian Summer
Free storage between the Fall Fling and heading down to Miami or Charleston. Saves having to shovel out the snow from in front of your boat.
Hmmmmmm.
I really hope that people come down because I know it will be part of their Fall schedule after that. We have several great regattas at HYC. Hope to see ya'll. here.
Paul Zimmerman and Ben Parker are planning to come down from Boston!!! How about everyone who lives a little closer?? It's going be a great time!
This is the updated scratch sheet. More boats but we have more crew and people that are interested in the boats than we have boats. Bring the boat and we can put good crew on them
Here is the revised list of people interested in the Viper and are available as crew for the weekend.
The winds were less than spectacular, but thank you to Hampton Yacht Club and Mike for putting on a good event. The race venue was close and easy to sail out to, lots of nearby watering holes for post/pre race activities. The oyster roast was a blast once we wandered around people's back yards for 20 minutes trying to find it. Apologies to anyone we disturbed. Very nice club to race out of, we should work to grow this event.
Thanks everyone who came this year. The event was great! Wish there was more wind but I think we made the most of what we had. The oyster roast was a blast with a lot of great food and drink. Thanks to Tyler Moore and Dan Tucker and RONDAR for all they did to pull this off. They both were very busy the entire weekend.
Results? Can someone do a writeup for the web with photos? If you don't know how to post it, just email me the results, a recap and a couple of photos and we'll get it up there for you.
The Fall Fling was awesome this year, of corse you always want more boats bu we had a great time. Geoff Ewenson was first after two races followed by Hampton Yacht Club's own David Eberwine and Mark Wheeler a close third. Great pics to show all that could not make it.
