This was already posted on the Great Lakes forum (http://forum.viper640.org/index.php/topic,2383.0.html) but I thought I would share it here for those outside the region.

For those of you that haven't been to the Nepean One Design, it's held in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada's Capital), at the Nepean Yacht Club (personally, one of my favourite clubs).

The growing Viper fleet in Ottawa has been around for a number of years, and the Great Lakes fleet is happy to be back at the NODs for the 4th year in a row.  Last year we had 10 boats on the line, this year we already have 11 and it's only the first week of registration.

The NODs were also chosen to host the Canadian Championships for the Vipers this year.  It's also a great warm up event for the North Americans which are hosted just down the road in Kingston ~2 weeks after.  If you're interested in coming to both events, there are options for storage and logistics for your boat.

If you have any questions about the NODs/Canadian Champs, or the NA's don't hesitate to reach out.
Here is the link for the NODs http://nod.nsc.ca/

Hope to see you there!

If anyone from south of the border is thinking about making the trip, we drove up last year and had a great time.  About the same driving distance as Kingston if you're coming from WLIS or points north and east, surprisingly fun party town (expectations were low, perhaps unfairly), HUGE sailing club (largest in Canada - who knew?), very good facilities, nice place to sail.  The local fleet in Ottawa is reaching critical mass (6 boats now?) and it's a way to get your boat north of the border before NAs.

Thanks Peter, it's too bad you have a schedule conflict and couldn't make it back to defend your NOD title this year.

For those of you on the twitter you can follow the NODs at @NepeanOneDesign

Cheers!

One of the 12 Vipers registered for NOD is Andrew Murtomaki, from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He and his crew are driving 2100 km (about 1300 miles) to get to NOD.  Respect.

Andrew and crew are the western most members of the Great Lakes fleet, let's show 'em a good time.

A quick bump for this.  We already have a dozen boats registered (largest fleet at the regatta).  Nepean Sail Club is a great venue for Viper racing, plus we have a Viper sailor on the organizing committee (good to have friends in high places).

It would be great to get a few east coast boats to come. Peter came last year with his new boat and schooled us all, but we still would welcome him back.

Anyway, a great party, a fantastic BBQ (usually 1/4 chicken) dinner is included, and it's also an opportunity to visit Canada's Capital.  There are also options for boat transport and storage between the NODs and NAs.

Who's in?!
