Hi folks:
Animated Velocitek replays from day 1 of Charleston Race Week are now up on the class web site:

http://www.viper640.org/events/eventresults/204-crwreplays

I'll get Day 2 up soon.

It's fun (or not) to watch all the times that we missed a shift, picked the wrong side of the course, or got rolled by some other boat that had better speed.  The GPS tracks are merciless in revealing every mistake one makes on the race course!  But fortunately, the replays can also be a great educational tool.

And to Davig G and crew on Black Mamba, DAMN you guys sailed a great regatta...  Just take a look at the Race 1 replay and watch Black Mamba Zig when everyone else Zagged, and then do a horizon job on the rest of us.  Niiiice.  :-)

If anyone else had a Velocitek onboard and you don't see your track shown on the replay, I need you to e-mail me your Velocitek track file (in ".vcc" format) so I can add your boat to the replays.  E-mail me at fpayet[at]alum[dot]mit[dot]edu if you need help downloading your data from the Velocitek.

Let the trash talking begin!

Enjoy,
Felipe.

My favorite part is where Rattler's speed on the run is 1.3 knots.

WIPEOUT!
Race it like you stole it.

:-)  Saw that... in race 4, right?  It looked like you guys took your time to get going again.  Bit of a yard sale?

We did the same, RIGHT before the finish in race 4... gybed to shoot for the pin end of the line and protect from another boat who had gybed for the pin right behind us, aaaaaaand WIPEOUT! (skipper error induced)  Instead of losing maybe one boat, we lost three or four.  Oh well!  :-)

You can see in the replay Mambo Kings and Cool Beans got by us because of that little adventure.  And if only we'd wiped out just a little closer to the line, I think our masthead would've finished for us!   Good times.
