Registration has been open since spring and we have many regulars already singed-up. Last year, we had 22 boats. We hope to see you here for what many have called Viper Summer Camp!

The only thing different from prior years is that we won't be leaving out beer in the ice tubs. The club is concerned about liability, so BYOB.

Cheers,

Jason

Aww, who blew it?  Henry Fernberger was over 21 last year - he only looks like he's 16.  Doubtful that team Great Scott! will be back to defend this year but this is always one of our favorite venues and hopefully we'll be back in 2019.

Nothing happened. We'll still be sharing, just from personal coolers.

All I want to know is, how did Fletcher get the lightning bolt to appear on the signup sheet!? AMazing!

This regatta is a MUSt do for everyone out there; I'm so looking forward to this year!

Cheers,

Cole

We have 11 signs ups so far! I've been busy sampling our local brews to find what I want to share out of my 'personal' cooler!

Looking forward to another great weekend!

We look forward to having 20 boats on the line this weekend! Thanks to everyone who is returning, and the new boats.

The lake is very shallow right now, and the ramp launch is very shallow. You will want to wait to lower your keel or attach your rudder until you go to the main docks or a mooring. Please also watch out for the concrete blocks that anchor the docks.

Here is the forecast:

FRIDAY...South winds 25 to 35 knots. Waves 4 to 6 feet. A chance of
showers. Visibility generally unrestricted.

FRIDAY NIGHT...South winds 25 to 35 knots, becoming west 15 to
25 knots after midnight. Waves 4 to 6 feet, subsiding to 2 to 4 feet
after midnight. A chance of showers. Visibility 3 to 5 miles.

SATURDAY...Northwest winds 10 to 20 knots, becoming northeast 5 to
10 knots in the afternoon. Waves 2 to 4 feet, subsiding to 1 to
2 feet in the afternoon. A chance of showers in the morning.
Visibility generally unrestricted in the morning.

SATURDAY NIGHT...Light and variable winds. Waves 1 foot or less.

SUNDAY...Northwest winds around 5 knots, becoming north in the
afternoon. Waves 1 foot or less, building to 1 to 2 feet in the
afternoon.

Cheers,

Jason

Vermont was amazing as usual!  We're working on a writeup for this afternoon (hopefully I get some pics by then) with more details, but quick takeaways:

7 races sailed--first day we got 5 in, in absolutely perfect Viper conditions, and day two we managed 2 races in some light breeze.

Congratulations to our Top 3!!

1st:  Oshunmare (Steve Chapman, Christophe Ledent, Quinton Gallon) 16 points
2nd:  Mo-Grins (Dave Nickerson, Moise Solomon, Scott Leming) 18 points
3rd:  Choppy Seas (Tom Loutrel, Jeff Gentzen, and Brian Zimmerman) 20 points

Impressive regatta.  Solid turnout, 6 different teams won the 7 races, some teams had career-best finishes at all levels of the scoreboard.

Thanks to every volunteer and competitor who helped make this event a success!

Peter Beardsley is suggesting September 21-22, 2019 for next year, which I have requested from our club.

I think we have the formula down for this event, but we are getting tight on dock capacity, and eventually lawn capacity. We can put some boats on moorings based on availability, but maybe we should consider letting some boats choose to pull. On a freshwater lake, I don't see pulling a boat as any advantage. I certainly wouldn't bother unless it was a polite move to open a dock spot for a traveling competitor.

I've posted the second set of photos, so we have the general photos, and then the by-bow selection of shots of individual boats. Thanks again to Gerry Davis for the beautiful photography!
