Travis will hopefully have the NOR and registration going in the next couple of weeks, if not earlier, but in the meantime, the dates for this winter are:
1. December 16-17, 2017
2. January 20-21, 2018
3. February 10-11, 2018
Hopefully there will be a strong turnout this year and that teams competing at Ft. Walton will want to keep their boats down south, or will want to get in some fun sailing in shorts during winter months while minimizing time away from the office.
For teams who are looking for a way to move their boats from Ft. Walton to Sarasota, Chris Gonzales, a friend of the Class who has a lot of experience in moving Vipers, is offering to trailer boats after the NAs to Sarasota for $450 / boat (one way). To reserve a time slot with Chris, please call or send him a text message at (210) 213-4635 with your name, phone number, Viper sail number, and what date your Viper will be able to be picked up to move from Ft. Walton to Sarasota.
Please note that as per past years, there is a storage cost associated with keeping boats at Sarasota Sailing Squadron for the winter. Contact
[email protected] to let them know when your boat will be arriving approximately.
Am in again, fun event and well worth it.
Patched Up will be there! Sarasota Vipering rocks!
We'll definitely be there again. Awesome series of events. Already have our plane tickets for December and January. Waiting for ticket prices to drop a bit before buying February tickets.
Bob McHugh and I will be there on 252
Missing everyone up on FWB but looking forward to seeing most of you down here in Sarasota over the winter. Registration is up and live and I will work with Chris Gonzalez or any other shipper to help receive your boats. Please do me a favor and register, choose the appropriate storage package AND pay for your registration/storage BEFORE your boat gets here.
Huge thanks and see ya soon!

We missed you in FWB Travis, but it'll be great to see you down at the Squadron! Patched Up is registered for all 3 events and we're all super excited to be down there in a month or so!
Just registered myself and Joe Healey. Looking forward to it!
BIG thanks to everyone that has taken the time to sign up for the Sarasota Winter Series. Registration is looking very healthy for all three events. I did change the registration this year so un-paid folks don't yet show up (which is hard on optics, but I hope will help some on the admin side) so if you have signed up and not paid, please do so, so we can see you. If you have not registered but know you are going to..... PLEASE DO IT NOW to help plan better for the events.
Looking forward to seeing you down here!

TEAM FWYC is signed up for Stop #1
Who else is planning to be down from the GYA? Buccaneer, Pass, Fairhope, St. Andrews, who are we going to see down here for the Winter Series?
Results from the December 2017 event attached. We used up a lot of good luck at this one. No wind Saturday, light wind Sunday from the east, clocking slowly right and dying through Race 3, then a full die and 180-degree clock to the west for Race 4 just before the time limit. The channel appears to have moved a little bit due to shifting of sand in the storms this summer, so give the north side of the channel a little more berth than usual, but otherwise it was the same great Sarasota hospitality.
Jackpot will be arriving Friday am early hopefully on the water by 11:30. Anyone interested in tuning with us?
Also we will host a Trailer party Friday night all are welcome. Please come by the Box trailer for some drinks and chatter..
(White Flat Stanley trailer) located by the water at the workshop..

We'll be out there at noon - looking forward to tuning with Jackpot.
Unfortunately the wind did not treat us well this weekend but a great time was had by all that attended! Viper sailors sure do know how to make the best of it.. Congratulations to Pat Gibson for winning this event!
See you at the next one.

Huge thanks to Travis, Mike, Dave, Michelle, Craig and the rest of the SSS team for hosting 4 great regattas this winter, and to Brad (and Trey) for the excellent hospitality at the Flat Stanley trailer all winter. Really good series and even though this past year saw lighter winds than most of the past few years, that looks to have been more a factor of bad luck than anything else since February was awesome and the VX guys had plenty of wind for their circuit at the same venue on different weekends. We will be back in Sarasota next year for sure. And I'm sure the debate will rage on about whether March should be Miami vs. Sarasota, but I didn't mind being in Sarasota this past week at all, even though it was a bit more expensive than the other events since it fell during spring break week.
