Title: 2012 Western Regatta Schedule
Post by: Drew Harper on July 02, 2011, 12:53:28 PM
It's never too early to start at thinking about this.

In the West we are honking of mixing it up so we are trying mostly new events/venues next year. Might as well impress a whole new cadre of regatta participants with the Viper...eh?

Let's talk it up, region by region to get these ideas out on the table.

2011 schedule for the west was as follows:
Jan - Leukemia Cup. Phx, AZ
Feb - SoCal Midwinters. SD, CA
Mar - Noods. SD, CA
Apr - Stricly Sail boat show regatta. Sf bay, CA  This event never happened.
May - Memorial Day Regatta. Eugene, OR
Jun - Long Beach Race Week.  LA, CA
Jul - High Sierra Regatta. Huntington Lake, CA
Sep - Sailing Anarchy ISAF Worlds. SD, CA
Oct - Great Pumpkin Regatta. SF BAY, CA

I'd like to get Whitbey Island Race Week on next years schedule and work with Texas to make sure we attend one of their events and they attend one of ours.

Talk it up...favorites? Not so favorites?  Let's get 2012 on the books soon!

I say we drop the Memorial Day in Eugene and pick up the Seattle NOOD which would typically be the weekend before. Better exposure for the Viper and would help get some of the Puget Sound Vipers out that probably wouldn't make Eugene anyway.

Make sure nothing conflicts with the NAs is September, and if any Westies cross the great divide, they should get bye points if they miss any regattas while travelling.

Oh and it was damn nice to have Arizona's very own Tony Chapman racing in the North East this week. He sailed with Marblehead on saturday and is sailing with the Fishers Island Sound Viper fleet on Tuesday.

Any Viperer travelling in US, dont forget to check in with your local Viper fleet, you will always get a ride.
