The 2024 North American's will be hosted by the Sarasota Sailing Squadron!
The dates will be December 13-15, with registration on December 12.
Expect a great event in the laid-back style of the Sarasota Winter Series, which this event will still be counted towards. There are no limits to the number of entries for this event.
Stay tuned for the NOR and registration details, coming very soon!
Registration is open: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/28746
Thirteen boats are already registered. Time to book your accommodation while it's still cheap and make plans to be in Sarasota!
NA's and Winter Series Are On - As Originally Scheduled
Despite the flooding from Hurricane Helene and the wind damage from Hurricane Milton, the Sarasota Sailing Squadron Board has confirmed their invitation to us to hold our 2024 North American's and Winter Series on schedule:
2024 Viper North Americans: December 13-15, 2024
24/25 Winter Series #1 January 11-12
24/25 Winter Series #2 February 8-9
Local Viper sailor and regatta chairman, Travis Yates, is hard at work sorting out arrangements and completing planning. Registered competitors should expect further communication from Travis as December approaches.
What Can We Do to Help the Sailing Squadron?
We are exploring multiple ways the Class might help the Squadron. However, Squadron members have particularly told us that one of the most important things we can do right now is: show up and go racing! Register, get your teams together, get your boats and trailers figured out, get to Sarasota, and help bring back the vibe that makes it the special place that it is.
Please register now (not tomorrow, not the next day)! We are hearing lots of teams who say they are coming, but we need you registered so we can plan, so we can help the Squadron, and so we can attract yet more boats. Here is the link: https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/28746#_home
20 boats registered now - sign up, this will be a great event - let's get to 30+ entries
There is a contest on Viper 640 Facebook that ends tomorrow night to select the official regatta logo (submitted by class members and relatives of class members). Go to Facebook and vote today.
Is there anybody interested in a charter? I may send my boat down but the NAs is my son's birthday and family is coming into town so I can't leave but I'd send the boat down to make it available for a team to race. A charter fee is negotiable. Not looking for much, just help offsetting expenses.
With 31 boats now confirmed paid-up registrants, this is going to be an awesome event. I arrived in Sarasota a few days ago and am basking in 72ยบ sunshine... The club is getting itself sorted to host us after the devastating hurricanes earlier this year.
There is still time to get your crew together and drive your boat to Sarasota!
Come to support the Sarasota Sailing Squadron's recovery from Hurricane's Helene and Milton.
Come to support your Class
Come for the competition (this looks like the most competitve entry list I've every seen)
Come to have fun (Meow has shown, Sarasota is always fun!)
Come to escape the snow if you;re from the north...
