I am starting my search to buy a Viper 640.  I live and sail in Colorado out of the Dillon Yacht club in Dillon Colorado.  Does anyone know of Viper owners in Colorado?

Is Viper 71 Ice Bear still kicking around that area?

I have not seen 71 at least not at Cherry Creek or Dillon.  Would be nice to know if Ice Bear is still around

Icebear here. Greetings to all the nice folks we met in the Viper class. We sold #71 to a couple in Wenatchee WA in 2016.

We had ton of fun daysailing #71 on Lake Dillon. Of course, Dillon can be a crazy place with the sudden mountain weather changes and turbulent winds flowing around the 13 and 14ers. A retrofitted furling jib was very useful at times. And more than once we planed back to the marina amid rumbling thunder and virga columns. Six seasons sailing the Viper on Dillon really transformed our sailing skills.

We've been boatless in Sedona AZ since sending #71 to WA. But we're now moving to Boise, ID, close to a good sailing lake, so we won't be boatless for long! Any Vipers in the Gem State?

Thank you Charlie for the intel. With J boats dominating the seen I would like to bring in a sport boat to the area.  I believe the Viper would be a blast on Dillon Res. on a regular basis.

Best,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I have 94 in Colorado Springs. I'm Canadian military, bought the boat in New England fall 17 and was unexpectedly (but happily) posted here last summer.  I have not had a chance to sail here yet, I expect to be here for another year or two.

Jaime, Welcome to Colorado!  There are several reservoirs around Colorado that are great for sailing.  I hope to have a boat lined up soon to sail in the high country.  It would be great to organize a fleet for the Dillon Open next season.

I look forward to meeting you,

That would be amazing.  We host a one design regatta every year called the Dillon Open.  Generally around the first week of August
