Over the next couple of months, we'll be adding more content to the front page of the website. One of the things we'll be doing is a regular "feature" profiling a Viper owner so that we can all get to know each other a bit better. We'll be trying to hit Viper sailors from all over the world, skippers, crews, racers, recreational sailors, etc. If you have any suggestions for who would be interesting to profile, send me an email (wpbeardsley a.t. gmail) -- you can't nominate yourself or one of your regular crew. Thanks.
The first profile is up -- Harvey Barnes wins the honor of being the first person profiled: http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/363-better-know-a-viperer-harvey-barnes
Please send over nominations for people you'd like to see profiled. Thanks.
Nice. Adds a lot of the people factor in the class for those interested in teh boat itself. Nice job.
Next up in the series: Kay VanValkenburgh, who in September may become the next governor of the Viper 640 class.

Nice write up...
By showing all the great people it really promotes the class well, I love it!
Brad
Latest installment: Deborah Wilusz
http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/368-better-know-a-viperer-deborah-wilusz
Aiming to do 1-2 of these a week. We have enough sailors in the class to keep this going for a looooooong time...
This has become part of my weekly read. Thanks for doing these Peter. Very nice stuff!
I have two more queued up, at least one of which will be posted this week. I was giving the column some breathing room post NAs, but that time has now passed.
Latest and greatest queued up: http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/374-better-know-a-viperer-pat-gibson
Next stop later this week will be the Pacific Northwest. Stay tuned.
Nice
The latest installment of BKAV is now posted. Everybody, better know Doug Stumberger. http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/375-better-know-a-viperer-doug-stumberger
Starting next week, we'll shift gears and profile each of the class's officers. Might as well get to know them too since they were all re-elected at the Annual General Meeting in Marblehead. Stay tuned.
Nice article on truly a good man. Thanks Peter.
As promised last week, the next few installments are profiling the class officers. Once we're through those guys, we'll go back to the heart and soul of the class. Goal is to get everyone profiled over a 2-3 year period. If you know of someone who should jump the line, send me a note. In the meantime, here's a bit about your class president, Dawn Kozak: http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/376-better-know-a-viperer-dawn-kozak
7th installment is up: class treasurer Tony Chapman:
http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/378-better-know-a-viperer-tony-chapman
8th will be class secretary Garrett Johns (coming no later than Saturday the 13th), 9th tech committee chair Dave Nickerson (hopefully by Tuesday the 16th), and as painful as it will be to do, I'll have to be 10th as regatta chair (probably by Friday the 19th). As funny as it would be to see me interview myself (esp. for my detractors), I'll field any questions from the floor given in advance to make it slightly less awkward.
Angry panda... There has to be a story behind that.
ok Pete... i'll help
where did you meet your wife?
does she have a sister?
who got you into sailing?
who was your hero?
when was your first viper crash (should be a standard question)?
where is the best place to sail a viper?
when does Jnr take over the helm?
what is your fav drink?
Latest and greatest: Class Secretary Garrett Johns. http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/380-better-know-a-viperer-garrett-johns
Mr. Nickerson is up next.
In the meantime, we have new photos scrolling through the banner slideshow on the front page. Check it out -- if you were at the 2012 NAs, you might be up there now! Progress.
Latest installment is up: Dave Nickerson. http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/381-better-know-a-viperer-dave-nickerson
Last one of the EC profiles will be up by the end of the week, then we get back to the good ones.
I'm stalling on interviewing myself, so I wanted to get back to the interesting ones. And we have a good one: Long Beach's own Dr. Jim Sears. http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/382-better-know-a-viperer-jim-sears -- coming to a Miami regatta near you.
Great article! Not to take away from it, but no more stalling... I think yours should say something about no matter the time of day, the average turn around time for a Peter Beardsley email regarding anything viper is less than 5 mins. Peter eats, breathes, and sleeps vipers!

Thats not strictly accurate.
I have travelled to a few regattas with Peter including Miami. I have also called him at work a few times between 12 am and 4 am. I am now pretty sure that Peter doesn't actually sleep.
Occasionaly he enters a semi sombulent daze. This can happen quite suddenly and unexpectantly which makes for exciting gybes. But sleep? Like horizental with eyes shut? I haven't seen it.
His very beautiful and super smart wife told me that she has seen him come home at a civilized hour and sleep like a standard human but she had to think about it and scrunch up her memory which says a lot.
I would be happy to conduct the innerview of Peter.
And I would be happy for someone other than me to interview myself. Justin, feel free to take the questions from the others as a starting point, plus Chappo and Doug's, add some others, and go from there. You send questions, I'll answer and post. In classic Viper form as I've learned so far, I'll only answer the ones that I feel like answering. Only a couple of people have met the full challenge and answered all questions. Most don't. That's ok, they're all fun.
Peter, I just have one question; Where is my bottle of rum? I bet Tim Carter knows! :(
- Kevin
It came to a glorious end.... Look me up @ T-Day :)
Timbo...killing me dude. Kevin: please PM or email me your mailing address and I'll get a new one to you as soon as mail delivery resumes in lower Manhattan (early next week?)
Looks like a new BKAV is posted, just in time for Christmas. Happy holidays from Lee Shuckerow: http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/387-better-know-a-viperer-lee-shuckerow

Haha tim carter, love that guy.
Hey Timmy you didn't mention anything about that giant Indian named joe who was ready to wear you out out. Or chumming all the way to the race course the next day. Damn that was a fun night... But the next year in az with popcorn was a close second. ;/)

Is it true that the Sea Monkey is crafting the first feature in a new series
"Viperers that you are better not getting to know"
based on interviews conducted on Animal and sleazy bars in sarnia?
Hey! Joe loves me now.. I'm sort of an aquired taste.... ;)
As to the following year, all I know is somebody violated the blow up girl.. She was last seen alive in the company of Danny and Drew.. they deny all knowlege though..... I think there was some Rondar "testing" going on... something about vaccume bags, or blow up bags, old bags... a bit foggy

The RV rental company in AZ STILL has us blacklisted. We're sleeping with the Burros now :-(
The March BKAV is up: Professor Joan Hall, from the Missouri Viper fleet! http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/399-better-know-a-viperer-joan-hall
Another BKAV to keep the masses in check -- one that many people have been waiting for, Mr. Jeff Jones: http://www.viper640.org/fleets/texas/409-better-know-a-viperer-jeff-jones
Awesome. Article nails it. JJ was a HUGE influence on our decision to purchase a Viper.
I had the pleasure of sailing with both him and Dan at one of the NAs. Jeff is a great guy!
Haha, easy guys. Your going to ruin my bad reputation.
Damned Texan!
Better now Jeff? Does that help you feel more comfortable? ;-)
I'm here for YOU brother.

Dan and Jeff are brothers now?
Apparently it's been at least 3 months since our last BKAV, which is way too long. Next up: Paul Zinger. http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/420-better-know-a-viperer-paul-zinger
Future nominees for the feature are welcome from the peanut gallery.
