PHRF adjustments for an outboard

Does anyone have any info on what the PHRF adjustment should be for adding an outboard to a Viper? My local mob came back with a whopping adjustment of nothing (despite the -6 listed in the handbook for adding an outboard) and I was wondering if this is normal.

If you look at PHRF rules, that 6s credit is for an outboard in the "down" position.

So basically you are adding weight and nothing else. So you can go to them with the new weight of the boat including the engine but they can only make 3s increments to your rating, I doubt the added weight would warrant the 3s second credit.

The adjustment for "no motor" is -3 secs so my theory is that I should get +3 for adding one. I did the math, the engine would add 5% of the boat weight. Other outboard classes around here (J24, Kirby 25, J22, J29 etc) range from 0.5% to 1.5%, all with a similar engine configuration (at the back, engine raised). That's pretty significant to me, especially since this is a planing boat and the rest aren't.

The time allowance is not for the weight. It's for the drag, so adding an outboard in the up position means no drag therefore no allowance.
If you want to try for an allowance submit a new weight for the boat with the engine, that's the only way you may get a credit. 5% increase in weight may actually get the 3s credit.
