Now that the weather is improving I am preparing to install new spreaders on a new mast.  When comparing the new spreaders to the old they are heavier and wider than the old, length is the same.  Is there a reason for this?  Should I use the old spreaders to save some weight aloft? I am perplexed by this one.  There are holes already drilled in the new spreaders on the inboard end.  Sunday I will see if they are at tuning speck.  All input welcome.

they would be heavier and stronger for a reason. id go with the stronger spreaders.. you might be saving 100 grms, but risking $10 grand in mast
