Title: meanwhile in the GYA, August 8&9th
Post by: Craig Wilusz on August 08, 2015, 06:42:46 PM
Dan Tucker, Mason Sheen, Craig and Deborah are all in,Mississippi this weekend Dan and Mason are at Bay Waveland YC, sailing demos on Rondar Demo 1.  Deborah rounded two ladies, Kerri Serpa and Jennifer Grant and are competing in the GYA Womens PHRF Championships at Pass Christian Yacht Club.  Currently as of Saturday the Viper and three ladies have two first ' finishes going into Sunday.  RC saw winds building though the day starting around 8 knots and seeing winds averaging 14-16 knots by end of day with puffs hitting 23 knots .  Folks were impressed with the Viper sailing three ladies up.   As the clubs are only six or seven minutes apart, Craig is ground crew driving between the two events.  Stay tuned for tomorrow report......

The August 8&9th Demo events are over.  Sunday found Dan and Mason sailing demos a bit after noon when the wind filled in on Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.  Dan had to leave a bit early to catch a flight home with Mason bringing in the last demo at around 5:15 Sunday afternoon.  Craig and Deborah were able to assist Mason in getting the BWYC demo Viper up on the trailer, de-rigged, and moved a hop, skip, and a jump over to Pass Christian YC, Mississippi about 10 minutes away for next weekend's demo.  Drinks and conversation at the BWYC bar with the nice members from Bay Wavland YC had Deborah and Craig home in Florida by 10pm.  Next weekend will find two Rondar Demo Vipers at Pass Christian for more demos at the Knost Regatta, the GYA Ladies Capedevielle Regatta sailed in Flying Scots.

Speaking of ladies...

Deborah, Kerri Serpa, and Jennifer Grant sailed the second day of the GYA Women's PHRF Championship in light breeze on a distance race taking the teams on a trip around the Mississippi sound in the Pass Christian YC area.  Light air and a dying breeze for a portion of the race found the fleet floating around for awhile a few miles off the PassYC beach front.  Later the wind filled in, giving the Viper Ladies another bullet to take the GYA Women's PHRF Champs with three bullets.  Congrats to the ladies for Fort Walton Yacht Club, Florida on their win.
