Title: Halyard Package
Post by: Phillip Davis on August 21, 2011, 08:12:33 PM
What's the trick for halyard replacement (all three).  Looking for max diameter line that can stand up to a breeze.  Recommendations?

I use 5 mm new England v100 for main and jib and paraloc marlin 6 mm for the spin. Plenty strong at 2500 lbs bl.

For spin halyard we are using 86 feet of 6mm robline dyneema. Can buy it on aps. We go oversize since races are won and lost in the corners. It has some great qualities such as low-kink and no water absorption. We had the older type which tended to flatten but the new stuff has more core and stays round.

Single braid Dyneema SK-75 and special textured nylon is easy to hold on to, runs well and is low stretch. The braid gives it low-kink properties. Easy to splice. Does not absorb water so it stays light. It even floats.
