Title: Underwater Tape
Post by: Lee Shuckerow on November 25, 2009, 11:35:33 PM
I was looking at pictures of the HPDO in Rye, NY and was looking at Charrles' Boat with a giant hole in the side and said to myself "self that's a problem".

Has anyone used any underwater tape that works? I have found EternaBond tape, has anyone ever used it? www.eternabond.com

Picture of his boat is in the article at http://www.viper640.org/component/content/article/14-news/235-2009-high-performance-dinghy-open

Another one is Synthoglass, http://www.synthoglass.no/documents/25.html
Kept aboard my sloop for emergency underwater repair but not yet tested; has anyone?

Anyone else? Let us all have some underwater repair tape inboard our boats so we don't let a minor hole in the side of our boats finish a day of racing for us. Our boats are relatively thin and i've seen some through hull punctures that occurred pretty easily in collisions.

I got Viper kabobed @ Marblehead NOOD last year. Perfect circular puncture wound on my port side, just below the gunwale from the offenders pole. Sail flat - no problem!  ;-P
