Title: Length of mainsheet split tails
Post by: Viper 57 on October 24, 2023, 06:25:50 PM
Hi

Is there a recommendended length for the main sheet split tails.  I am using an aft bridle setup with the bridle block spliced to a dyneema line  attached the gunwales  and the main split tails tied to the aft eye straps.

Also is there a recommended mainshhet length.

Who are people buying dual core line from .

Thanks

Are you trying to make your own mainsheet or do you want to buy one?  There are a few folks out there who can make you a mainsheet.

If you want to make one yourself, this is a good starting point for line lengths / diameters: https://forum.viper640.org/repairs-maintenance-and-upgrades/cordage-lengths-and-preferences/msg18934/#msg18934

I can't recommend the mainsheet I bought most recently - didn't come out the way I wanted.  Will need to spend some more time on this over the winter to get a really good one made and focus on the tail lengths properly.
