And just to be clear, the Atlantic Coastline includes all Atlantic Coast lines from Canada to South Africa.   Any nation with an Atlantic Coastline can send a women helm to this regatta. We'll accept entries from the Falkland Islands.

That is why Alex and Co are busy working on logistics for their woman helm.

To be even more clear, anyone can attend, and anyone can win.  The defending coed ACC champion is from a place without an Atlantic coastline.  Doesn't matter, except for a national championship, though I still maintain I am the Canadian national champion from 2013 as opposed to the 2nd place team at that event.

2021 ACC was won by a Canadian. Canada is rather proud of their Canadian coastline and is a member of NATO
2020 ACC were won by two All- Americans, and the USA has a long Atlantic Coastline.

We dont require the boat owner has ocean front real estate.

But you are correct that the title of the championship says more about the location of the event than the nationality or  place of residence of the competitor.

In the case of the WACC, the host club , Noroton has offered one loaner boat each to the West Coast Viper fleet to have a West coast team,  and three other nations outside of the US where women Viper sailors reside......on the basis that it willl be fun for everyone to meet women Viper sailors from further afield and it is unrealistic in the current shipping crisis to expect non-US teams and West Coast teams to ship boats.  All the nations happen to have Atlantic coast lines ...hence a double entendre for Atlantic Coasts Championship.

The registrations are steadily coming in for this event.

You don't see them all yet as we await the allocation of loaner boats. We will likely have all the Noroton boats and all the Seawanhaka boats entered which means that there are another 12 boats still to register.

There is enthusiasm to designate this as a "Clean Regatta"  under Sailors for the Sea guidleines. More on this later.

Super excited for this--first event in the new Meow!  New Meow! new magic cooler FYI...

There are quite a few entries not on the scratch sheet yet, that I know are going to be there..should be a nice turnout!

Bill Vickers

We can loan our boat for this event.  It has an upgraded steel bow plate in her now :)    Will see if anyone from Naptown wants a boat.

Cole, tell us about the new upgraded magic cooler.    We might have to make a donation to the cause.

Bill

Cole Constantineau

@Bill, yes!  the new bow is pretty sweet :p

As for coolers:  the one and only magic cooler on 235 is going to be the resident magical cooler in the Annapolis fleet after May 15, so definitely show Jay and Jaimie how that thing works.

Not sure yet on the design for 294 when I get her, but I will fenagle something again out of aluminum box beams and Rtic cooler(s).  I am a fan also of the standard West Marine dock box on the other side:  they are on the expensive side, but they are totally bombproof, which is a nice trait for a travellin' boat...

Hello Bill that is super generous. There are a lot of god women helms in Annapolis/VA.  This will be a great event. I have 2 more confirmed not yet signed (Grace Wagner and Katie Morgan) , then Seawanhaka are promising me they will show up, so Im currently looking at 18 boats.

It will be a great regatta.  Please not the event is now called 2022WACC- United in the Race to Protect the Worlds Oceans.....all kinds of fun things happening around that as we partner with sailors for the Sea, Bacardi's good spirited campaign(a genuinely good company committed to zero waste to landfill in all their distilleries) , harken Z sails, Upwell Coffee and Whoelfoods.  Be warned SUP drinks will be banned in the SI's.......but fear not we aim to give each competitor a very nice $20 Nalgene water bottle so you won get dehydrated.

I attach a copy of the info package that went out to all competitors today.

Please remember that the entry fee rises from $100 to $120 tomorrow at 11.00 pm.  $120 is still extraordinary reasonable so I trust that will not deter anyone.
However, those that register before tomorrow's deadline provide me with additional sponsorship based on our number of entries on June 1st, so if you are planning on coming it helps us a lot if you enter sooner vs later.
