Demo regatta in Larchmont, New York next weekend. Entry form attached. Pass it along. If you want to help out either as race committee, bringing your Viper down to sail for the weekend, or showing up with a case of beer post racing to meet some Viper prospects, that'd be great.
Great to see this, Peter - we really enjoyed our demo regatta this last Summer, and came away with 4 strong prospects. Looking forward to hearing how this one goes. Wish I could be there!

I sailed in this event as crew/coach with Cameron on Cameron's boat.
Two prospective Viper owners were our third, one alternated as driver and the other as bow.
I want to say a loud Thank You to Cameron and Peter.
I had a blast!
1) Dont be fooled in thinking that five newbie skippers wont be competitive. Our skipper, Christian had the boat figured out very quickly. He currently owns a X boat which is a light displacement big boat racer. He came second in two races in succession and he was hitting the right end of the line on the gun with boat speed. He had the guns upwind and after a sailing a little too low downwind in the first race, he had us fast all around the course in the second race. The racing was close, exciting and fun. We really had a good time.
2)Id love to see Christian join our class. Great guy and good sailor. He will be a great sport and competitor on the race course and I would enjoy racing with and against him. He is member of Noroton and was previously thinking of buying a Sonar. Somebody save him...the grin on his face as we planed off a wave will be wiped out by a Sonar.
Anyway..his kids will soon all be racing Vipers..so I dont see how he will get crew for a Sonar.
3) The breeze was on. I think we were all wondering what would happen putting 5 new skippers on the helm in breeze on a startline. Well, the formula of having an owner or experienced crew on board really works. The boat handling was very good and the starts and crossings were very clean.
4) An informal regatta like this where the racing was close , courses were short, the results didnt count for anything... is fun. Each race only counts for itself, so we are really trying just to go fast in each race. Bad Result? Hit the reset button, there is another start coming. Good result? Hi Five, open the beer (more on that) and celebrate. Everyone had a good time. I had a good time.
5) Dawn, our class president, had driven up from New Jersey and was throwing out cold ones from the RC boat to anyone who asked. Our results got better and better ( I think). Damn you should have thrown me out and elected Dawn years ago.
