Hi Folks:

The Texas Viper fleet would like to invite y?all to come race with us in early October for our Texas Viper 640 Fall Circuit, two fantastic regattas held back to back in early October:

Austin Yacht Club?s Leukemia Cup, Oct. 4-5, and Fort Worth Boat Club?s ?Ol?Man of the Sea? Regatta, Oct. 11- 12.  We expect at least 4 Texas vipers at each regatta, and hope for more if any of the Arizona, Missouri, or Southeast vipers can join us!

AYC Leukemia Cup, held on Lake Travis in Austin, TX Oct. 4-5, is in its third year, and has been a blast every year so far.  We had almost 100 boats competing last year, and expect as many again this year.  The weather tends to provide great breeze, and wonderful Texas fall temps in the high 60?s to mid 70?s (it blew 15-20 last year, with gorgeous warm, sunny weather).  We expect to be scored as a fleet this year, and if we can get one or two more boats on the start line, we may get our own start?

Ft.Worth Boat Club Ol?Man of the Sea Regatta Oct. 11-12 on Eagle Mountain Lake in Ft. Worth, is another fantastic event, as some of you already know, given that the TX and Arizona vipers raced there last year.  You can read more about it here:  http://viper640.org/index.php/Texas/Ol-Man-of-the-Sea-Regatta.html    Joe & Steve from DFW and the Arizona guys can probably share some good war stories from the Ol'Man last year. :-)

From a logistics perspective, since the regattas are on back-to-back weekends, out-of-towners could bring your boats down to Austin for AYC Leukemia Cup, and we can make arrangements to store them for you for the week between races.  That way you can fly home between regattas, come back to TX for the second regatta, and drive home after the Ol?Man regatta in Ft. Worth.  Bottom line: only one round trip towing a boat, and two great weekends of Texas hospitality, Viper racing and camaraderie!  :-)

If you want even more late season racing down here in balmy TX, you could leave your boat here a little longer (I can arrange with AYC for storage), and race in the Wurstfest Regatta Nov 7-9 on Canyon Lake, another great event held during the Wurstfest festival in New Braunfels, TX.  Great regatta, and a unique opportunity to experience a full-on Oktoberfest celebration Texas style!

Here?s more info about the Wurstfest regatta: http://www.wurstfestregatta.com/ and the Wurstfest festival itself: http://www.wurstfest.com/

Hope to see some of y?all down here in October!  If you have any questions, feel free to post to this thread or e-mail me at:  fpayet [at] alum[dot]mit[dot]edu

Cheers,
Felipe

The party will be epic at both regattas! If anyone needs housing for Ft. Worth, we can get at least 3 teams housed for free.
