Hi guys, I know most of you are gearing up for Miami and other spring regattas. Its a little far off, but never too early to start planning. Atlantic City Race Week is August 8 and 9 this year, right when we have a little break in the viper calendar. Sailing right off the beach combined with the night life of the casinos, doesn't get much better for a regatta. Spend time on the beach and in the casino makes for a great weekend. I may have housing available and a place to store boats for a period of time if needed. A few boats from up north (NY area) and a few boats from down south (VA area) we have the potential of having 10 boats on the line or more. Register today and pay later. http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=1239

Now up to 4 viper!! This is going to be a cool event. Sailing off Atlantic City and casino night life. Certainly a different type of regatta and a fun little weekend with the boys. Centrally located, we hope to have some boats from VA and a few more from the NY area. Sign up today and pay later. I maybe able to find housing if needed, but it will probably be more fun to stay at a casino. Special deals here http://www.leukemiacup.org/nj/localchapter/raceweekendhotel

Doug,

What is launching like -- is there a ramp somewhere?  How far is it from the ramp to the docks?  Are the docks in good shape?

There will be a crane at the marina on Friday and Sunday. If a boat arrives after 7pm on Friday, there is a ramp right there to ramp launch. The docks are top notch as it is Farley Marina at Golden Nugget. Golden Nugget has a deck bar which is pretty convenient when done sailing. The slips are included in your entrance fee. They may give us a big slip and we would put two to three vipers in it. Vipers will have a tow boat dedicated to making sure everyone gets out and in quickly.

That sounds pretty good.  What is the wind like that time of year -- I assume we're racing in the ocean?  How long are the courses and how long is the sail to/from the race area?

I am already signed up - I am just curious since a few people are starting to get excited about the event and maybe some other people will be too.  Sounds like a neat opportunity and a chance to do something different.

Yeah Its a great place to sail. Its pretty cool looking behind and seeing the beach and the casinos. Yeah we sail out in the ocean. Its a pretty easy sail out of AC inlet and not far, however I do have a tow boat dedicated to vipers if needed. I also have a request into the organizers to have smaller race courses for vipers to allow for more races. Wind is typical summer wind. 10-15 out of the south. Sea breeze usually fills in later so wind tends to build throughout the day. Pretty good regatta party and great food, but main selling point is you are in AC for the night. Go have some fun at a casino!

Now up to 5 vipers and a few more should be signing up soon. We could easily have 10 boats or more. Night life of AC casinos gives this regatta a fun different type of sailing experience. Just dont bet your boat or you might not be sailing the next day! Even if you are on the fence, sign up today and pay later. This way nothing is lost if you cant make it at the last min.

Those of you coming to ACRW or still deciding to about coming to ACRW, heres just a quick look at what you can do. Besides racing in the ocean, a good regatta party, and hitting the casino,  Jerry Seinfeld will be performing at Borgata, KC and the Sunshine Band at Tropicana, Beatlemania will be at Golden Nugget, Danielle Bradberry will be at Resorts and Tropicana shooting off fireworks. More reasons to come!
