Keel top plate - change to G-10, what thickness?

My aluminum top plate is bent.  I need to do some top cassette work as well (Viper 84 but previous owner had a top cassette put in after a grounding I believe, bottom is still standard Mark II Delrin) and I figure I should replace the top plate too so I am back to a flat surface.  I see G-10 has been used instead of aluminum - likley the way to go for me?  I can get 4" x 19" G10 for $50 in either 1/2" or 3/4" stock.  I have access to a machine shop for drilling the holes.  I am considering the 3/4" thick G-10 due to the much lower modulus of G10 relative to aluminum (a factor of 4 - 5). Questions;

1) Is G-10 the way to go or should I stay with aluminum?

2) If I go G-10, what thickness?  Are people going thicker to account for its lower flexural resistance?

Thanks!

I had g-10 on 206.  It worked great.  It was 3/4 inch.
