Title: Dry-Sailing Parking
Post by: Jason Hyerstay on March 14, 2018, 02:32:37 PM
Our club is updating our rules and guidelines for dry-sailing parking. I don't have access to my boat right now, so can you guys help answer these questions (even regarding J/70 if you know).

"Hoping you will provide me with the dimensions of the trailers fitted to, respectively, the J/70 and Viper 640. I need this to develop the footprint for DSS boats in the south end.

Additionally, how much space is needed between each trailer to allow for parking, and anything else we should factor into accommodations for DSS boats."

I think he actually needs the total length and width of boat + trailer.

FYI, we have to pull with cars and trucks for ramp-launching.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason,

A Viper on a trailer is 25 feet long and 8'-2" wide

Thanks Paul. What do you think the gap between boats should be? We leave our vehicles hooked up to the trailers while sailing, so you have to be able to back in and out while doing a 90 degree turn. I feel like 3 feet or so.

3 ft total extra space seems fine, 3ft on each side is excessive.
