Hi all!
Based on the NA notice that's just gone out, and Vakaros RaceSense being used, and the note that the device must be affixed to the mast facing aft - how are people attaching their Atlas? I would have thought that anything attached to the mast would foul the gnav lines, unless there's some kind of bracket that allows these lines to pass behind the Atlas? I've just ordered one and I was going to 3d print a bracket that screws into the mast partners with a nice gap for the control lines... If there's something else readily available that would be great :)

Cole Constantineau has an excellent 3d file for making an instrument bracket. Works great for the Vakaros. Doesn't get in the way, spin halyard, gnav lines all pass inside the bracket.

Thanks Steve!

Cole sent me the file, it's busy percolating through my printer as we speak

For those of us without a 3D printer... Madmounts makes two versions of a Viper 640 mount.  One is an extended depth of 4" which allows the GNAV and Spinn halyard to pass through nicely.  There is a small wedgey thing that is supposed to be glued to the mast to set the mount upon.  This keeps it from rotating when you bump it while sailing. Pros, it's a well made mount, fits mast perfectly.  Cons, it sticks out so far at 4" it's hard not to bump it in maneuvers.  It uses Velcro to attach to the mast and I suppose this allows the unit to move instead of breaking if you hit it hard.

Bam Miller is also making an awesome 3D printed mount.  A bit lighter than Cole's and it otherwise is locked in really solidly and can be installed / removed without needing to slip any halyards through.  I used it for the first time at ACCs this past weekend and it is easily the best one we've ever had.

Is there a web address for Ben's product?

Bam's website is: https://www.oysterbayboatshop.com/
His unit probably isn't on there for ecommerce, but email / phone to order it.

I have sold my brackets to several members of the fleet over the years, and recently made some design improvements to increase stiffness and reduce weight.

These brackets have been used in dozens of regattas and have held up exceptionally well. Printed in ASA-CF, they are one of the most robust mounting solutions for your Vakaros or Velocitek.
