Was out in some shifty conditions the other day - blowing at 15, gusting to 25+ - and found ourselves dragging the rail in the water a fair bit. Letting off the main righted us, but severely disturbed airflow through the slot. Blowing the gnav helped spill some air, but depowered the boat.
Assuming rigging is tuned correctly for prevailing conditions, what's the correct trade off between sheet & gnav to ease the heel angle while minimizing disturbance of the slot? How much easing of the jib should we be relying on to help right the boat? And I've heard contradicting accounts about how to handle the outhaul in these conditions. Thoughts?
