A race is being held on Lake Norman on Saturday April 11 that may interest you. It?s a 12-mile race known as the ?X-to-C Cup?. The purpose of the race is to see who has the fastest boat overall on the lake, and to also record the fastest one-design boats in different classes. Records are kept from year to year, so boats are racing history as well as each other.

The current holder the ?X-to-C Cup? for the overall fastest elapsed time is Don Corey and his Ultimate 20 Scram, with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 59 seconds. If the winds are good, the record could easily fall this year, especially to a sports boat like the Viper.

A good launch location for trailered boats is Beatties Ford Landing, which is only a quarter mile from the race starting area. There is a good interactive lake map at http://lakenormanboatersguide.com/node/1, which shows the location and directions to Beatties Ford Landing.

More information on the race is attached. The Word file ?X-to-C Cup 2009? explains the race in more detail and gives the times of the current class record holders.

The .pdf file ?X-to-C map2.pdf? shows the course. Circled in yellow are:

- Marker 3 - the location of Beatties Ford Landing

-Marker 2 ? the start location of the race

- X - one mark of the course

- C ? the other mark of the course

The race is being run by Outrigger Yacht Club, who?s web site is www.outriggeryachtclub.org <http://www.outriggeryachtclub.org/>. The Notice of Race and registration information will be posted to the web site shortly.

Feel free to share this information with any other sailors you think would be interested. If I can answer any questions for you, please let me know. I hope to see you on the water on the 11^th . And I hope we have a record-breaking breeze.
