Lake Champlain Yacht Club proudly invites you to our fourth annual Viper 640 Regatta and the New England Championships! This is also the final event in the Great Lakes Viper 640 Series.

In 2016 we had an amazing event, with eighteen boats and ten races over two days, with lots of planing runs.

This is a Viper 640-only event at a gorgeous freshwater venue sandwiched between the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. We have top level race management and a really friendly club. We have lots of club members ready to offer free housing to competitors.

Late September on Lake Champlain offers some of the best wind and most beautiful scenery. We are hoping to have guest teams from Canada, Chesapeake Bay, the Great Lakes, Marblehead, New England, Lake George, Long Island Sound, Newport, and elsewhere.

Please download the NOR for event information, and the General Information for extra stuff you might need to know about the event, the area, and local resources. We also have a document for Lake Champlain Sailing Conditions, where our regatta tactician (John Harris, Etchells Fleet 25) shares our local tips and tricks!

Event fee is $120 per boat, which includes a bagel breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, a come-as-you-are buffet dinner for skipper and two crew at the clubhouse Saturday about 1800, and cheese, crackers, and hot dogs pre-departure Sunday. The meal price for additional crew and guests will be $5 per breakfast and $15 for dinner.

Event text updated to show price. We are thrifty and run with great volunteers, so the price is very affordable.

I want to express massive gratitude for all the volunteers and competitors for making this event a memorable success. 22 boats made the journey and I think we all had a blast.

Cheers

Plus one--thanks so much Jason and Dale and everyone at LCYC for making this a great event as always! It's a long drive but so worth it! Hope everyone got home safe and reasonably swift--there was a guy on duty at the Quebec border who was really in a bad mood. We had to show documents, which of course were under all our gear, so we had to pull over & get them out. And it looked as if he still had the Michigan guys in his clutches when we left.

Here are some teaser photos from Gerry Davis while he continues editing:

Hi Jason, great pics.  I heard that there might be a video coming with some drone footage?  If so, please let me know the link and I'll post it up on the Great Lakes facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/510430029009814/).

Cheers!

Some of these pics would be great for the class page as well. We'll keep in touch with our club photographer Gerry Davis to get higher quality images to the class page moderators.

I got this year's regatta photos from Gerry Davis last month, and finally got a chance to upload them to the site. The two sets are different. I'm not sure if there is overlap.

I just want to add one more reply to this thread.

If you haven't been to our event, at least check out the photos!

If you have been to our event, this is interesting. While the locals race W/L in the bay all the time, we only do W/L in those open lake spots for this regatta.

Registration is open for 2018.
