For anyone coming from to the Nepean One Design, James has offered to arrange storage in Kingston in between regattas.

James please reserve a spot for me!

Last year we had 10 boats at this Viper only event.  I hope to see more boats this year!

A great weekend had by the 8 Vipers who made the trek to Kingston ON.

Light winds from the NE meant racing on Saturday in shifty conditions until racing was rudely interrupted by a line squall bringing heavy rain and lightning at the end of the 3rd race, killing the wind for the rest of the day. A great time for more beer and a great BBQ put on by Kingston Yacht Club for the event.

Sunday was champagne conditions, winds starting out of the SW (which meant once the thermal set in we could expect awesome winds as conditions would just build). So early morning racing in 10-12 kts built to 16-18 kts for the 3rd race and then 18-20 kts for the 4th and final race of the day.

Ron Schute on 117 Rum Theory raced consistently at the front of the fleet to capture the 2017 Canadian Championship. Second place when to Nick Ward on 165 Proper Villan and third place to Steve Chapman on 211 Oshunmare.

A big thank you to James & Heidi Colburn for organizing a great regatta.

Thanks again to Heidi, James, and their group of Volunteers.  Kingston again put on a great regatta and the sailing conditions were typically Kingston like.  We would've had a few more boats but the GL fleet has caught a few cases of the "broken rigs" and the "holey boats".  Hopefully everyone can get their issues sorted out for the August 19-20 weekend in Sarnia!

Congratulations to Ron Schute and his team from Ottawa.  They had that extra gear all weekend and even when they found themselves in mid fleet, they climbed the ladder to finish in 1, 2, or 3 in every race.  Very well done!

I'm already looking forward to being back in Kingston next year.  It has to be one of the greatest places in the world to go sailing.  Fresh Water, Great Breeze, Experienced Volunteers, Convenient facilities...it would be a great place to hold a North American Championship!
