Gulf Area Viper 640 Email Blast (December)
« on: December 29, 2015, 12:40:55 PM »
Hi everyone.  Here is a copy of the December Gulf Area Viper 640 email blast:

Big news is that Jackson Yacht Club, Mississippi is building a Viper fleet.  So in 2016, be looking forward to at least one GYA Viper Circuit stop at Jackson Yacht Club.  Two events are being considered: Spring Fling April 9-10 and Hospitality Regatta October 29-30.  The circuit dates are not set yet, and we really want to have a great turnout for Jackson.  Please check your local racing schedules to see what may best to get the highest turnout for Jackson at either of those weekends in 2016.  Please send your suggestions to Craig at contact@gulfperformancesailing.com.

Other big news is that Saint Andrews Bay YC has picked up two Viper 640's for StABY's sailing program.  Members from Saint Andrews towed one boat down to Sarasota Sailing Squadron, for Viper Winter Series circuit stop number 1 in December.    SSS # 1 was sailed in awesome weather with  plenty of shifts to keep all on their toes.

Results for SSS#1 attached below

More news....  Big Bad Dog Macho is bringing back the Vipers to Mardi Gras Race Week.  February 10-14, 2016 at New Orleans Yacht Club.  This is the weekend just after Sarasota Winter Series #3, so some boats may just stay south to move to Miami in March, however for those of you are not in Sarasota, this is a great event to warm up and practice up prior to Miami Race Week in March.  Bad Dog sure could use some early registrations and sure would love to have the Texas fleet come over for a sail.  So the earlier you pre-register the better Macho's behavior will be (we think..)

A nice yong man, Alex Beranl, has moved from the West Coast to the Gulf Area and is looking to crew on a Viper.  Alex has experience in performance beach cat sailing.  Make your reservations to have Alex crew for you  early:  alexbernal0@gmail.com

Rondar has put together a rubrail kit that can be applied to the rail of the Viper 640.  We should have the first kit ready to be put on a boat in March.  We will keep every one up to date on this.  Speaking of new boats...  The first Saraosta event saw two brand new boats come in, one of which was sailed by a GYA team.  Rondar already has four new boats on order to be ready for delivery in Florida in March, and another new boat order was taken just today (12/29/15).   Life is good.

See you on the water soon

Lee, the rubrail kit will be in kit form.  So once we see if there are any installation bugs, or things to learn, the idea is that folks can order and install themselves.

Peter, no pics yet.  However D and I plan on installing on our brand new boat in Miami.
