Viper Main Event March 10-12 as the finals of the EFG Pan American Championship, likely a pre-event March 6-7 Sunday-Monday as has been the case in future years, and I'm sure many more details to follow, but NOR and Entry are posted: http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=1548

9 boats registered so far... still early, but time to sign up if you are planning to come to the best sailing event of the winter!

EFG Winter Series - a qualifying event for the EFG Pan American Championship if you missed one of the earlier qualifiers - on March 6, 7

The famous Miami Scorch on March 8 - a fun race, a screaming spinnaker reach across to Key Biscayne where we chow-down on seafood & beer at the Boaters Grille  - and a scorch home!

Class dinner on Thursday March 10 at the Peacock Cafe (the 2015 Viper social event of the year!)

Amazing Bacardi hospitality and the wonderful welcome given to us by our host club, the Coral Reef Yacht Club not to be missed!

So with 32 boats in 2015 hopefully we will get 40 entries in 2016!

Up to 14 boats now....still early days. Time to clear your head of Christmas, get over the New Year's Eve hangover and plan your next sanity check! No better therapy than sailing on Biscayne Bay in 80+ F weather.

Miami Race Week is our class sponsor EFG's flagship event. If you haven't attended this yet it is the best week of sailing you'll have this winter. Bacardi keep us all well lubricated, and the Coral Reef Yacht club is a fantastic host.

Don't hesitate, register now!!

Ok, so I have heard of several boats that are intending to head to Miami that haven't registered.... Please register!! We're planning a great week. The warm waters of Biscayne Bay are just what the north-east sailors will need after the snow storm headed your way....

EFG Winter Cup - Day 1 - Irish Eyes Are Shining

Sure, St. Pat's is a week away, but Royal Cork Yacht Club's Anthony O'Leary was certainly smiling today as he sailed back into the US Sailing Center Miami after having scored bullets in both the the races today.  With breezes in the high teens from the north, Biscayne Bay was the venue for 16 Viper 640 Sport Boats.  This final qualifier series for next week's EFG Pan-Am Championship to be sailed as part of Bacardi Miami Sailing Seek.

O'Leary, sailing with his son Robert and Tom Durcan found ways to work past the leaders down wind and take both races. Just behind O'Leary is Noroton YC's Joe Healy, Ryan Zupon, and Patrick Aylward with two seconds. Nick Amendola from Naples, FL stands in third.

Four races are scheduled for tomorrow. Perfect "Chamber of Commerce" sailing on Biscayne Bay.

The real question is who won the Scorch??
Viper 640 #262 - "Smokin" - Bermuda

Ed "Buttons" Padin, Class Administrator

The Scorch was "modified" because it was blowing in the low 20s on the nose. Why get there cold and wet? We hoisted Alpha over November and all drove.
